Garlic Bread 2 Ways

Ingredients
  • Garlic Bread #1.
  • 1 baguette
  • 1 clove garlic, cut in half
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • pinch kosher salt

  • Garlic Bread #2.
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • pinch kosher salt
  • 1 baguette
Instructions

For Garlic Bread #1:
Heat the broiler with the oven rack 4 inches from the top. Using a serrated knife, slice the baguette crosswise in half. Now slice each piece in half lengthwise. Place on a sheet pan, crust-side up, and slide the pan under the broiler and broil until the crust is toasted and crisp, about 1 minute. Remove the pan and turn each piece over. Slide the pan back under the broiler and broil until the tops are golden brown, about 2 minutes.

Cut the garlic clove in half and rub over each piece of toasted bread. Pour the oil in a small bowl and use a pastry brush to evenly coat the tops of the bread. Sprinkle with a little salt then slide the pan under the broiler once more to reheat the bread. Slice and serve immediately.

For Garlic Bread #2:
Use a chef’s knife to chop the garlic. In a small bowl, combine the garlic, butter, and a pinch of salt.

Heat the broiler with the oven rack 4 inches from the top. Use a serrated knife to slice the baguette crosswise in half. Now slice each piece in half lengthwise. Dividing evenly, spread the butter over each piece of bread. Slide the pan back under the broiler and broil until golden brown and toasted, about 2 minutes. Slice and serve immediately.
