Grilled Baby Turnips

Ingredients
- 1 bunch baby turnips with bright green tops (about 12)
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Trim the tails from the turnips and pull away any discolored leaves.
Boil the turnips for 10 to 12 minutes, until they can be easily pierced with the tip of a paring knife (you want them tender but not soft). Drain them into a colander and pass under cold water to stop the cooking.
Heat the grill to medium-high.
Cut the turnips in half through the tops. Put them on a plate or sheet pan. Drizzle with the oil and sprinkle with the salt and pepper.
Grill the turnips cut side down for 5 to 6 minutes, until charred. Turn them and cook 1 to 2 minutes more. Remove them before the tops completely char (a little is okay).
Serve.
