- 2 small bananas
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 tablespoons dark brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons dark rum
- Small pinch of cinnamon and kosher salt
Peel the bananas and slice them in half lengthwise. If the bananas happen to be large, cut them in half crosswise as well.
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sugar and let it melt. Place the bananas in the skillet, cut sides down. Let cook 1 to 2 minutes, swirling the skillet often, until the undersides of the bananas are browned.
Flip the bananas. Pull the skillet well away from the flame. Add the rum. Return to the heat and swirl the skillet until the sauce comes together, about 1 minute. Swirl in the cinnamon and salt.
Serve immediately with vanilla ice cream.
