My Favorite NYC Restaurants

In NYC, these are the restaurants I recommend without hesitation to all my friends and family.

Silver Apricot

Silver apricot

Silver Apricot is a little gem. The wine list is perfectly edited with interesting, thoughtful selections of American wines. The menu is also tight and full of exactly what you want to eat. Everything hits the spot. The one dessert on the menu, the Milk Tea Mochi, is an absolute must.

Pastis

Pastis is a triumph. This legend just reopened in a new location in the Meatpacking District. I am in awe of Keith McNally and Stephen Starr, who were able to perfectly recapture the true essence of the original. The menu is french bistro, and nobody does it better than this team.

If you work, live or are anywhere near midtown, you must go to Princi. They serve the freshest sandwiches, salads, soup, hot pastas like rigatoni, breads, pastries and dessert. They are backed by Starbucks, so everything is done right and they have a nice coffee menu. Most of all, the service and the people who work there give me hope for the future.

Decoy

If you like Peking Duck, this is your place. Decoy is downstairs from Red Farm in the West Village, and hard to get into. So do what I did, and eat upstairs at Red Farm, but order from the Decoy menu. There are many other highlights if you are not a Peking Duck person. I love the different types of dumplings (shrimp and chicken) and the crab and scallop fried rice.
